3 Down, 1 To Go

I hope everyone has had a great relaxing Memorial Day weekend!

Wednesday I went in for round 3 of the 4 “red devil” chemo regimen. It was pretty uneventful. Just me and my dad chilling while that nasty stuff goes thru my port.

After chemo day I actually feel really great. Like I said in my post before, they give you steroids in your premeds so I was yet again bouncing off the wall.

Thursday I went to work. Felt great. Then came Friday. I ended up having to go home from work about 30 minutes into my work day. This mentally got to me. I hate missing work. I felt queasy and exhausted so definitely didn’t have much of a choice.

Saturday wasn’t much better. Just laid around and watched another 12 hours of Vanderpump Rules. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Ray was here to give me plenty of foot rubs and back massages. Something I haven’t talked about yet is the bone pain that comes from the Neulasta shot. This usually happens about 2 days after chemo. It feels kind of like your whole back and spine are bruised. As much as this stinks it’s a good thing. That means the shot is working and is creating white blood cells which is needed for you to be able to complete the next chemo treatment.

Then came Sunday. I started feeling better. Still low energy but better. Was able to take a good shower and wash this hair! Much needed.

And now here we are today. I feel back to normal! Sitting here drinking coffee and getting kitty snuggles which are the best kind of snuggles. 😻

So yes this time the red devil punched me in the face. But it’s ok. I have one more left and then I will begin the weekly taxol which is suppose to be a walk in the park compared to the current regimen I’m on. I’m feeling stronger every day. I can’t believe I’m almost done with the first chemo treatment. It’s going by so fast, which is such a blessing.

I appreciate all of your kind words. It makes my heart happy. I’m a lucky girl.

Hope you all have a great Memorial Day. And remember the reason we have today off.

Until next time…

  1. I have heard the third treatment is the worst. So glad you pushed through. Are you taking Claritin the day before and then four days after the chemo infusion? This is what I was told and it has helped me offset the Nuelasta bone pain side effect. Your slogan about the mountain is my screen saver. I read several times a day to keep me moving forward. Enjoy your recovery time. 💪🏼

      1. Yeah! I have definitely been told that by several people who have gone through it. All the toxins are starting to really build up and it just takes its toll. I hope you are on the recovering end now. Second treatment has gone well so far. The fatigue is starting to set in a little on Day 3, but trying to stay as active as possible as I really think it helps. Glad you are taking the Claritin, wish it was helping a little more. We are crushing this treatment. 💪🏼🙌🏼

  2. 1 to go. Has a nice ring to it don’t you think? I think the red devil wanted to make sure you were paying attention that this is a fight, a fight you are doing. So maybe it got you for a couple days, but only that as you are back! Clean, refreshed, and ready for the last one. You got this! Prayer warriors in full force.

  3. I am going to start my “red devil” on Wednesday. To say I’m nervous is an understatement. Every time I think about Wednesday, I get anxious and I start to shake. Im so sad, angry, upset, every emotion in the book. But I’m ready, I think. Im ready to be healthy again. My road to my cure has been so long already. I’m scared to lose my hair. I was going to go forward with cold capping but ultimately decided not to. Did you end up doing the cold capping? My mind and thoughts are everywhere about everything. Any words of encouragement?

  4. You go this! My last taxol is next Friday! The red devil was not easy for me. I was to receive four treatments but could only do three. Hospitalized twice, 10 days after my first treatment then a month later with double pneumonia. Mind you I was a hermit and would not go anywhere but work and home. So my oncologist suggested moving onto the taxol. Which was a much smother ride. After this I’m prepping for my double mastectomy. Thanks for all the tips on the post surgery! May God continue to bless you on this journey!

    1. Man I’m sorry you had a hard time with AC! Definitely glad to have that one behind me. I’ll begin the weekly taxol next week. Let me know if you have any questions about surgery.
